 The mayfly lives for just a few hours, hence it is called Ephemerid,
Its life cycle is mainly spent in water as naiad, predator of mosquito
wrigglers and protozoans. (Acknowledgement: Melvyn Yeo photo, edited by author)

The night lies awake with a dim light;
comes a companion in flight
with wings of rainbow burning bright;
 what a magnificent sight!
