Fish, what made you fish, not another,
      when choice was in your hand?
Fish answers: Paleozoic a time of fire,
      and my forebears moved from land.

Through Nature's mysterious ways,
      in the shallow seas trapped inland
I remained, while my kin returned to land,
      and became reptilian and mammalian. ~
