How can I compose a Vietnamese song?
I ask Beethoven for the sound of Nature,
The genius of Bach for organization,
Chopin's touch and Mozart's therapy,
And Schubert’s lament to linger on.
But I must first enter the Cuchi Tunnel,
And fly ever the delta and trace
The restless meandering Mekong River
Seeking homage to the sea and beyond;
Then visit the War Museum,
To be able to write a Vietnamese song.
