Acknowledgment: These photographs (Parts 1 and 2) are part of a collection of Professor Alice C Villadolid, an internationally known journalist, author and professor. I wish to express my deepest gratitude to Prof Villadolid for providing these photographs for my research and writing.

The Santo Domingo Church, Intramuros, was the
headquarters for the Dominican Order of the Philippines.

Aftermath of the war - total destruction of the historic and legendary church, and the old buildings of the University of Santo Tomas which were adjacent to the church. The plaza named after the theologian Santo Tomas, has been preserved as a historic landmark. Both the church and the university have been relocated to their present sites. UST has just celebrated its 400th anniversary (1611-2011)
