Flow gently, sweet little stream,
and I will sing you a praise;
Flow gently down the little valley,
and I will go with your ease.
Flow gently sweet little stream,
for you have time to tarry;
Flow gently around rocks and hills,
meander and be merry.
Flow gently, sweet little stream,
and do not grow up too soon;
Flow gently with the watershed,
catching the rains in monsoon.
Flow gently, sweet little stream,
living link of sky and sea;
Flow gently among the creatures
in your care, play and be free.
Flow gently, sweet little stream,
away from the hands of men;
Flow gently in this hidden den,
this lovely patch of Eden. ~

Ode To Rizal, Hero and Genius
Abe V RotorSwords may win but the pen lives always;
Blood may spill and stain the hallways,
Their immaculate whiteness gone forever;
Not your martyrdom, we'll always remember.
You fought the tyrants before them we kneel
And raised your head to look beyond the Hill,
Blindly we followed the glitter of their gold,
We who are lesser in heart and are old.
Shine, shine in the hearts of the young
That they may beat a path to far beyond
Follow your life and trace your footprint
With faith, with hope, with your spirit.
We do not seek power, wealth and fame,
Else like yesterday's bandwagon we’re the same;
Give us your light, free us from future bleak,
Shackled and bound, voiceless and meek. ~

The Woods - A Small World
The Woods - A Small World
Painting and Poem by Dr. Abe V. Rotor
Kissed by the sun to mellow,
Orange, red, and yellow;
Old and tired the leaves all bound,
Will soon fall to the ground.
They make the forest alive;
All kinds soon to arrive;
Under the trees in retreat,
Forms a carpet beneath.
The smell of death is around,
And rebirth without sound;
In the light and warmth of sun,
Touching the sleeping one.
It wakes up to the first rain
Pushing its way to gain
A place among creatures all -
Response to Nature's call.
The bridge of life and death is short,
Yet its link is like fort,
To preserve the generations
As they come and go forth. ~

Paint Nature this Summer!
Paint Nature this Summer!
Dr Abe V Rotor
Summer is outdoor to paint Nature;
summer is art, other hobbies a part;
camp out with paintbrush and colors,
canvas and easel, and a happy heart.
Summer is away from school and books,
from monotony and boredom;
go visit another teacher - Nature,
and live awhile in her kingdom.
Summer - the most beautiful season
of the year - it's time for sharing
the joys of childhood - both young and old,
through the magic of painting. ~

Sleep, sleep deep and well,
just snore gently through your fumarole,
bubbling the warmth of the earth,
and play a friendly role:
Creatures all you carry on your back and top,
birds too tired on their route come to a stop;
a sanctuary to them, and others in transience,
bringing them together in seasonal conference;
up north they return when their winter is over,
and down south others go for their summer;
Many tenants you care by your rules and game;
in Nature, each has a role whether wild or tame.
your trees catch the clouds coming drifting low,
and humble the wind to come in gentle blow.
sunrise comes in golden spears among the trees
that unveil the mist and dance with the breeze.
sunset comes early in the trees, it settles quick;
except for the many eyes, night is dark as ink.
night sounds are eerie - the language in the wild;
keeping campers stay awake and wide eyed.
at daybreak comes the roll call, each creature to its chore,
and the forest is alive once more.
cathedral of trees dwarfed only by the sky and sight
in ever increasing span of height and might.
in storeys and boundaries, each a niche, a territory,
where each kind live in family and harmony.
Don't wake up to soon, be that gentle mountain as long
as the children have not grown, and the grownups
coming along to catch the lost years to know you more,
away from the city, from malls and coffee shops~
