A flock of doves in the sky playful and free,

    sans cares and worries, and full of glory;

when we’re at ease with others in harmony,

    though the sky is dark and gloomy.

They come incognito in our midst unaware,

    at work or whiling our time away;

like in Carson's Silent Spring, the sky's bare,

    when the birds would come and stay.

Where have all the white doves gone today?

    Doldrum before a storm is like a shroud,

when all's quiet, beware, old folks say.

    it hides from view our troubled world.

Peace, come back with these doves flying low

    that passed over Flanders's Field long ago.

Suddenly they’re fired upon from down below;

    it's history repeating the battle cry. Lo!
