It's a song on canvas heard and seen

of an ancient lighthouse ruin;

waves against the rocks still crashing

and the boats gayfully sailing.

Melody I hear in every brush stroke,

like writing pages of a book,

against blue sky and water still alive

 through time that you survive.

Entombed on canvas are your relics,

of history that speaks

of a masterpiece of the imagination

in artistic expression. ~

     laugh with the brook in summer;

in autumn catch the leaves falling,

     touch the blue sky in winter. 

You whisper in the first rain of May,

     sing with the birds in the trees,

shout with the rapids, happy at play,

     tame and catch the  breeze.

You are a funnel of the watershed,

     you fill the ponds and lake,

rivers and dams for use ahead,

     for all creatures' sake. ~

Dawn is the child of sunrise,

azure, crimson, emerald,

curtain of a new day,

a call for all to rise.

Through the church's window,

dawn joins the faithful

in their hymns and prayers,

alongside row by row.

Over the mountain range

a reclining profile rises,

her gown of darkness fades

and soon will change.

Like the dawn I'm a child,

rising up as she rises,

to her ephemeral beauty

devoid of any pride. ~

     in song and unity

with Nature in a world their own

     distinct in beauty.

Stop painting just for a while,

     be with them at ease;

give silence a true place

     with inner peace.

Everything's quiet, just a breeze,

     in tune with the heart ,

as the red light turns green;

     for the next start.
