Golden Corn

What crop is closest to the sun and gold?
They say the sunflower, but more so the corn,
for the sun never sets on its golden color,
infinitely reborn season after season.

And families take to the field from sunrise
to sundown until the kernels glitter of gold
while kites fly high, and soon the children
are back to school happy and proud. ~
