From folks who believe in the mermaid,
algae by their colors are named;
yet taxonomy's puzzle are foundin lowly plants on reefs abound.

Phaeophyta for the brown,
Chrysophyta, the golden;
Rhodophyta for the red,
Chlorophyta, the green,
And Cyanophyta, blue-green.

What with the countless without brand,
the microscopic, those in mighty strand
that make the jungle under the sea,
and the mysterious Sargasso Sea?
