Do you know Yeats, Marlow, Browning,
Or Ben Johnson, of their poetry of love?
You are too pure, too romantic to be true
Under the sun, in the rice fields,
In the jungle, in the once battle fields -
Yet your love is dearer - far sweeter,
For sweeter is love after pain,
When tears are washed away by rain.
And make the sun shine again.

My understanding of this poem is that the viatnamese women's beliefs of the meaning of love is to be defined in the midst of the their wars and hardships that they face. But theirs is far more meaningful experience than others for love is balanced equally with pain.
