"Art takes nature as its model.” ~ Aristotle
Dr Abe V Rotor
It's a small garden around a tree as host and guardian to smaller plants.
A Talisay* tree stands alone no more,around its trunk grow many plants,making a shady place, like a nursery,annuals and shrubs around its floor.
Now its top a tower for birds to nest,sing with the breeze and children,tames rain into drizzle and dewdrops,takes away life's worry and stress.
* Leadwood or Logo' (Ilk), Terminalia catappa, Family Combretaceae
Cactus and Agave make a special garden
It's not a desert but one in a dry place,
for variety and function of a corner;
otherwise a bare and forgotten space,
integrated into a natural cover.
"The garden reconciles human art and wild nature, hard work and deep pleasure, spiritual practice and the material world." — Thomas Moore
Wall mural as background for workshop, study tour and photography.
Mural painting and true scenery
at the boundary of art and botany,
myth and science and history,
and today's thrust on ecology.
"The garden suggests there might be a place
where we can meet nature halfway." — Michael Pollan
Dead spots of the house come alive.
Empty windows, old and forgotten,
corners bare, sidewalk worn out;
gardening extends this far - and lo!
a scenery we are happy to show.
"To forget how to dig the earth and to tend the soil is to forget ourselves."
- Mahatma Gandhi
Storied forest profile built into a living dome.
Copy a forest profile in the garden,
ground plants, shrubs, lianas, vines,
ferns, orchids, with heritage trees;
a sanctuary of wildlife near home,
for meditation, silence and peace.
"I think having land and not ruining it is the most beautiful art that anybody could ever want." — Andy Warhol ~
