Trees talk. Yes, they do.

Dr Abe V Rotor

Century-old tamarind (sampalok) tree, San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur.
(The tree was felled by a strong typhoon, c 2005)

They do much more,
for them to implore.

They chirp and dance,
in pep and trance;
sing and laugh,
roar and clap,

snort and grunt
like hurrying up,
shout in rush,
whisper and hush.

They hiss with the breeze
shake with ease,
dewdrops and rain,
and man's hurt and pain.

Would trees complain?
Ask the empty plain,
where a lone tree stands
and other orphans

who cry and moan
to the dying sun and moon,
to man's heavy debt
and eventual death. ~
